The fundraising charity breakfast “Beyond Business”, which seeks to shine a light on the crucial issue of child sexual abuse in the Helderberg, is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 18 October.
The event will be held from 09:00 to 12:00 at the Seven Sisters Vineyards (off Annandale Road) and in aid of Patch, the Helderberg Centre for Child Victims of Sexual Abuse, which continues to offer an invaluable service to the community as a beacon of hope to little ones who have survived devastating trauma.
For those who may not know, Patch is the acronym for the Prevention And Treatment of Child Sexual Abuse in the Helderberg and its surrounding areas. With a title that is self-explanatory this is precisely what the organisation has been doing since it began operating on 2 June 1992. After more than 30 years of performing this rather sensitive, yet necessary function, Patch remains the only organisation in the entire Helderberg that provides free prevention, therapeutic, medical and court support to child victims of rape and sexual abuse.
Kevin Davis, a local pastor, businessman and host of Beyond Business, said: “I am determined to raise awareness and find sustainable solutions to combat the pervasive and damaging effects of gender-based violence (GBV) and child abuse.”
Mrs Universe South Africa semi-finalist Chantell Davis shared: “I once lived a life plagued by fear, shame, and rejection. Through years of personal growth and inner healing, I discovered my true identity and purpose. I am now driven by a deep-rooted belief that everyone deserves a life free from fear and discrimination.”
Together the pair are extending an open invitation to all community members to join hands with them, rally in support of the initiative and collectively raise a voice, effecting positive and lasting change within the community and society at large.A morning of compassion and advocacy
