The City of Cape Town is calling on all interested Grade 10 and 11 learners to apply for the 2024 Junior City Council (JCC) term.
The application deadline is Sunday 31 December and interviews will be held from Monday 19 to Friday 23 February at the Cape Town Civic Centre. The Junior City Council offers an invaluable opportunity for learners to gain a deeper understanding of the City Council’s operations. Spanning over a year, the programme will encompass a diverse range of JCC sessions, excursions and workshops. Junior councillors will be empowered to understand how to read the City’s budget, including how to formulate a budget submission, understand and articulate the City’s IDP, how to run community projects, to perfect public speaking and raise awareness of addressing pertinent youth-related issues in communities they represent.
The JCC will elect key portfolio holders – Junior Mayor, Junior Deputy Mayor, Junior Speaker and Junior Chief Whip. Apply online at www.capetown.gov.za/Family%20and%20home/Meet-the-City/city-council/junior-city-council.
