The 58-year-old endurance swimmer from Somerset West, Howard Warrington, who became the first person to complete 150 Robben Island crossings, has set his sights on a new target! Come month-end (Saturday 30 September), Warrington will brave the icy cold waters in an attempt to complete his 160th crossing for a cause and make it into the record books once again! This challenge will be aimed at raising funds for the Heartlands Baby Sanctuary in Somerset West. Warrington will once again be accompanied by his wife, Elmarie, who will serve as skipper, and Charl du Plessis, who will observe and validate the milestone Robben Island crossing to Blouberg. With sea temperatures averaging at around 12 °C, Warrington will have his work cut out for him as he attempts the swim wearing only in a Speedo.
