Much to the delight of fitness enthusiasts passionate about rebounding, the Western Cape’s first and only franchise branch of The Trampoline Squad opened in the Helderberg this weekend.

The newest fitness destination in Somerset West opened its doors at 99 Main Road on Saturday (31 May), introducing locals to fun-filled, high-intensity interval training sessions.

According to owner Bianca Havenga, overwhelming demand led to four fully-booked demonstration classes on opening day, where participants experienced diverse training styles from four unique instructors. They provide a comprehensive introduction to The Trampoline Squad’s philosophy of combining music, health and community building.

“What we offer is a very exciting, fun and slightly addictive rebounding community that brings the beat and rhythm.”

Biance Havenga, owner of The Trampoline Squad Somerset West.

The inspiration to establish this new fitness concept in the Helderberg Basin stemmed from both Havenga’s personal passion for rebounding and her recognition of a market gap in the area.

“I have always had a passion for rebounding,” she explained. “I was never a fan of traditional gyms, but fell in love with rebounding after attending my first class at The Trampoline Squad Moreleta Park (Pretoria). We noted limited rebounding class offerings in the Helderberg area and decided to create something new and fun for the community to fall in love with.”

The business found its home in a prime Somerset West location in the heart of the central business district, offering spacious facilities with secure parking in a safe setting.

According to Havenga the latest branch will maintain the same high quality and standards of The Trampoline Squad, which has been around since 2020 and boasts branches in Pretoria and Secunda, both owned by Jani Kotze.

A typical class will consist of about 30 minutes of intensive rebounding followed by muscle training and stretching. Each class is approximately 45 minutes. The club may also offer unique outdoor classes from time-to-time.

“The unique thing about The Trampoline Squad is each person can maintain their own pace. Our trainers will bring the energy and keep you motivated for the very fit and even the not so fit to get a great workout and burn those calories to great music,” Havenga pointed out.

The business employs certified instructors who begin each class with safety briefings and essential “house rules” for trampoline use. Currently equipped with 15 trampolines, the studio plans to expand its capacity in the future.

“We’re committed to providing fun, energising fitness classes that promote healthy living and make exercise enjoyable,” said Havenga, who welcomes clients of all ages and fitness levels to The Trampoline Squad.

While walk-ins are accommodated, online booking through the studio’s website is recommended. Various membership packages are available, with the current schedule offering two classes per day, Monday to Thursday and one morning class on Friday. “We hope to increase our class offerings soon,” Havenga added.

“We maintain an open-door policy… It’s rewarding to watch our clients grow fitter and stronger with each session.”

And for those interested in joining: “Bring your water bottle, gym towel and plenty of energy.”
