Young Bafana had the privilege of hosting top FC Koln coach, Jorge Arcila, last week at the YB arena in Strand.
With many years of experience coaching youth football all over Europe, he has worked his way up the ladder to serve currently as German Bundesliga club FC Koln’s International Youth Talent Agent.
In this capacity he travels all over the world in search of young talent to recruit them for the FC Koln Academy for future development.
This is Arcila’s second visit to Young Bafana, and the Young Bafana Academy stated it feels very privileged and honoured to have such a distinguished coach and mentor to add value to their coaching profile.
In his week with Young Bafana he divided his time between presenting workshops for the coaching staff in the form of video-footage analysis, interaction and discussions on various topics of coaching.
This was followed by practical workshops on the field with the coaches. In addition, he personally took charge of a number of practical sessions with the u-11 and u-12 squads, who absolutely loved the training, all done in Arcila’s well organised, firm but friendly approach.
The intensity, passion and communication with the young players and coaches were the stand-out features, as was the feedback on the latest training methods, trends and thinking of coaching youth football.
Young Bafana wishes to extend its thanks and appreciation to FC Koln for Arcila’s time with it, and hopes to continue its association with FC Koln in developing young players and providing them with opportunities such as this to change their lives.
