A 52-year-old man was arrested on Friday 20 October in Garden Village, Somerset West, for the possession of copper cables, presumed to be stolen property. According to Somerset West police spokesperson Sergeant Suzan Jantjies, an official of City Of Cape Town’s Metal Theft Unit was on patrol in the community around 13:00 when he received information about copper cables at a house. “On arrival the official spoke to the owner of the house and the copper cables were seized,” Jantjies said. “The man was taken to Somerset West Police Station. An enquiry has been registered as well as a case of possession of property presumed stolen.” Jantjies added the suspect was released. “The cases will be transferred and investigated by police provincial detectives.”
