Local officers in blue along with Western Cape police commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembisile Patekile attended a crime imbizo which was held in Lwandle on Wednesday 10 May. The main purpose of this imbizo was to create an environment in which police officers can interact with members of the public and jointly find possible solutions to crime. According to Sergeant Mthokozisi Gama, spokesperson for Lwandle police, participants deliberated on the challenges faced by police officers on a daily basis. The imbizo gave members of the public the perfect platform to convey their grievances to the police commissioner. Some of the complaints included poor service delivery and the shortage of manpower at the township station. Other issues included a non-existent neighbourhood watch, and Patekile appealed to community members to step up and form one to help fight crime in the area. Photo:
