Police officers involved in Operation Restore, an initiative to address crime in identified areas of the Western Cape, were deployed in Macassar, and swooped on an informal structure where drugs were confiscated and a female suspect was arrested on Friday (9 June). According to a media statement, they had followed-up on information received of dagga being sold in the informal settlement in Dorothea Esau Street, Macassar Village. “The information was operationalised when members searched a shack and discovered 23 parcels of dagga and an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of crime,” said a statement. A 47-year-old woman was arrested on charges of dealing in dagga. The parcels, which weighed 2,19 kg in total, were seized. The suspect was expected to appear in the Somerset West Magistrates’ Court.
