Robin Maripan, head of the Somerset West branch of the Department of Correctional Services, bids farewell to the Helderberg after seven years of dedicated service. Honoured by Strand police and the Strand Community Policing Forum (CPF) for his outstanding contributions, he has been recognised as a leader who viewed corrections not just as a profession but a calling. His tireless commitment to the community, often going above and beyond the call of duty, has left a lasting impression. The Strand CPF awarded Maripan with a certificate and two medals as a token of appreciation. Strand police station commander Colonel Khunjulwa Khanyile praised Maripan’s leadership, noting his successor will have “huge size-11 shoes to fill”. As Maripan embarks on a new chapter, the community remembers him as an exceptional leader who made a profound difference in the Helderberg.
