All things floral and green were celebrated on Sunday 9 October, when locals were implored to take a step from their comfort zones and homes to experience the beauty, tranquillity and wonder of their gardens at the annual celebration of Garden Day. Joining in the outdoor and green fun were (from left) Jamestown resident Boston Gongwe and Strand locals Joseph and Weston Muzimbawake, and Learning Mahaso. They celebrated local green spaces with neighbours, family and friends by popping on a flower crown and toasting the goodness their gardens give them all year long. Garden Day, now in its seventh year, was conceptualised by a group of enthusiastic gardeners who wanted to encourage people across South Africa to connect by celebrating their green spaces, however big or small.
