The Parel Vallei & KwikSpar Somerset Lion’s Square Golf Day again showcased the beauty of a community coming together to enjoy a round of golf to ensure excellent education. The event was held at Somerset West Golf Club on Friday 4 November.

KwikSpar Somerset at Lion’s Square has been the main sponsor of the event for seven consecutive years and golfers were again spoiled with goodie bags filled to brim and a special touch of KwikSpar throughout the day, including the exciting trolley dash as part of the auction and sponsoring the prizes for the top three teams.

There were also prizes for the best dressed four-ball from Morkel and De Villiers, while the prize for being nearest to the pin was won by Hein Lubbe (hole 7), Jennifer Cloete (hole 9), Bert McAughtrie (hole 11) and Johnny Bosch (hole 15). Daniel Hindley played the longest drive on hole 4.

“The support by every single sponsor, player, parent and Parel Valleier is truly heart warming and greatly appreciated,” said PV principal David Schenck. “Our golf day is about more than raising the much-needed funds in our pursuit of excellence in a changing world; it tells the story of a community’s strength and we are privileged to have an extended Blue Thread family that is so eager to invest and make a difference.”

The second placed team was made up of Matthew Beadsworth, Darryn Charmers, Magda Stapelberg (KwikSpar), Clive Battison and Nick van der Westhuizen
