Cristiano Ndombassy, a resident of Gordon’s Bay and WBO African Welterweight and WBF International Junior Middleweight champion, took on Johannesburg’s Brandon Thysse in a 10-round middleweight contest on the Cracker Jack Box and Dine Tournament bill at Emperor’s Palace in Gauteng on Saturday 10 December. The hard-as-teak Ndombassy, who was born in Angola, gave it everything for 10 rounds, but Thysse, the IBO All-Africa and WBA Pan African Junior Middleweight champion, proved too skilled and went home victorious after the judges scored the fight 98-93, 96-95 and 97-93 in his favour.
