Provincial police’s Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) combat team conducted an intelligence-driven operation in collaboration with the AGU last Friday (18 August). The AGU followed up on information about a hidden firearm in Sercor Park, Strand. On searching the identified premises in Zaida Street, the AGU members discovered a 9 mm pistol with nine rounds of ammunition concealed in a green basmati-rice bag in the cupboard. A 30-year-old man was arrested and detained. He is expected to appear in the Strand Magistrates’ Court on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition once he has been charged.
