A 69-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs and ammunition after a large quantity of mandrax tablets and tik was seized in a bust in Sir Lowry’s Pass on Tuesday 9 January at 06:40. The arrest follows after police received information of drugs in the area. A search warrant was obtained and executed at an address in Rastakamp where police confiscated several mandrax tablets with a street value of approximately R8 000 and tik to an estimated value of R8 000. Sergeant Suzan Jantjies, spokesperson for the Somerset West police, confirms that the suspect was arrested. Among the drugs, live ammunition was found. A case of possession of drugs and illegal ammunition is under investigation. Warrant Officer Hennie Karolus, Constables Aviwe Bedula and Adrian Scholtz after they executed the arrest.
