Mandrax worth an estimated R65 100 was seized and a 45-year-old suspect arrested when police swooped on a residence in Sir Lowry’s Pass on Friday 12 January. According to Somerset West police spokesperson Sergeant Suzan Jantjies, officers responded to a tip-off about illegal drugs on the premises around 21:00. A search warrant was obtained and executed at the residential address, where 2 170 mandrax tablets were found hidden in a room cupboard and confiscated. The suspect, a local resident, was arrested on a charge of possession of drugs. Acting station commander Detective Lieutenant Colonel Sizakele Hantibi, congratulated the members for the outstanding arrest. Pictured are officers counting the mandrax tablets.
