The Strand Women’s Network hosted a Cancer High Tea at Cheerful Hearts Café in Strand on Friday 20 October. It was started by women officers at Strand Police Station with the purpose of bringing change among women in the workplace. This is why the women who attended dressed up to enjoy an afternoon tea.At the event Sister Thandi Sililo of Helderberg Hospice spoke about the importance of women taking care of themselves and their well-being as well as the services they render. This year the women’s network focused not only on breast cancer, but also on the wide spectrum of colours represented by each of the cancers, by colour-coding each table. A candle was lit in remembrance of those who had lost their lives to the disease followed by a moment of silence. The day ended with a prize for the best dressed lady as well as a lucky draw.
