The Robyntjies family were among qualifying beneficiaries who received the keys to their New Breaking New Ground (BNG) homes in Sir Lowry’s Pass on Monday 24 July. The City of Cape Town’s R101 million Sir Lowry’s Pass Village housing project will provide homes to 307 beneficiaries and their families and is expected to be completed in 2024, if all goes as planned. “I am absolutely thrilled to be here again to hand new homes over in the Somerset West area” said Alderman James Vos, Acting Mayco Member for Human Settlements. “We handed the first homes to qualifying beneficiaries in April this year, and I am pleased to be back here to hand over more houses and to see the progress on site. We look forward to providing many more opportunities in the months to come. We call on our communities, civic organisations and beneficiaries to continue to work with us so that we can deliver more opportunities to our beneficiaries in the shortest possible time.” The selection of beneficiaries for housing projects is done in accordance with the City’s Allocation Policy and the City’s Housing Database to ensure housing opportunities are allocated to qualifying beneficiaries in a fair and equitable manner that prevents queue jumping.
