In recognition of International Day of Older Persons (Wednesday 1 October), a meaningful celebration was held at two local old age homes, Huis Jan Swart and Huis Soeterus, bringing together key community stakeholders to raise awareness about the elderly and their challenges. The collaborative effort involved ACVV Strand, the Somerset West office of Department of Social Development, Strand Patrol, and Hendrik Louw Primary School, working together to ensure that some of the most vulnerable members of the community are not forgotten. This initiative, led by local social worker Yolanda Coetzee-Swanepoel, highlighted the importance of community intervention services and ongoing support for the elderly.
