The Khayelitsha Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit has issued appeals for public assistance in connection with two separate sexual assault cases registered in Somerset West.
According to investigating officer Detective Captain Riccardo McCree, the most recent case occurred in Mitchell Baker Street, Somerset West, on Saturday 1 November. The alleged incident involves a 19-year-old woman who allegedly met with someone she had been in contact with online. It is alleged that during this meeting, the suspect sexually assaulted the victim without her consent.
Authorities are also continuing their investigation into a sexual assault case that occurred at a fast-food restaurant in Somerset West on 8 September 2024. McCree explained that this case involves allegations that an elderly patron sexually assaulted two minor boys as they moved between the restaurant’s play area and their family’s table.

“While positive information received from the public has aided in identifying a possible suspect, anyone with additional information is encouraged to come forward,” said McCree.
The specialist unit believes two individuals depicted in the photographs may be able to provide crucial information regarding these incidents. Police are appealing to anyone who recognises these persons or has information about either case to contact authorities.
Anyone who can assist with either investigation, is urged to contact Detective McCree on 082 522 3154 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111. All information will be treated confidentially.
