Lwandle police are investigating a case of business robbery after two suspected armed robbers targeted a cellphone and accessories store located inside the Somerset Crossing shopping centre in Strand on Friday (17 March). The pair allegedly pounced on PEP Cell and looted 37 cellphones in the incident which occurred around 10:00. Lwandle police spokesperson Sergeant Mthokozisi Gama confirmed the incident, saying: “Two males entered the shop and one of them approached the teller informing her that he wants to buy a cellphone, which was located inside a display case. The teller went to open the cellphone display and while she was busy another male entered the shop and grabbed her by the wrist and forced her to open the displays. They bagged the cellphones before fleeing the scene.” Police are urging anyone with additional information on the armed robbery to contact the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Arnold Woodward, on 021 845 2060.
