A joint neighbourhood watch (NHW) patrol was held in Strand on the evening of Tuesday 27 September. The patril focused on visibility, illegal dumping hotspots and problem buildings in need of attention. Participating neighbourhood watches included Van der Stel, Loswill, Gustrouw, Sercor Park, Buurmanne and Broadlands Park. “It was great to join the Strand neighbourhood watches and Community Policing Forum (CPF) on patrol last night,” said Cape Town mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis, who was also present. “NHWs and CPFs play a crucial role in making our city safer, and I am gratified that we have such involved residents.” Pictured during the operation (from left) are Reagen Allen, pronvincial minister of Community Safety, DA leader John Steenhuisen, Mayoral Committee member for Safety and Security JP Smith, Ward 100 councillor Sean Stacey, mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis and Subcouncil 8 chairperson Chantal Cerfontein.
