An open day at software company Stone Three Impact at its premises in Paardevlei in Somerset West last Tuesday (7 November) was organised as a meaningful exercise to provide key stakeholders and partners an unfiltered view of the company’s mission towards uplifting the youth through education.
In the fast-evolving world of technology and innovation, fostering an early interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among young learners is crucial.
Now a registered non-proft organisation (NPO), Stone Three Impact, strives to do just that.
Founded a year ago by CEO Derick Moolman, it was born from a desire to spark a deep-seated curiosity for STEM subjects in children and provide a safe and supportive environment for them to explore, learn and engage with these exciting fields.
At its core Stone Three Impact is driven by a group of passionate educators, scientists and engineers who recognised the need to bridge the gap between traditional education and the dynamic world of STEM.
With a mission to inspire the next generation of innovators, Stone Three Impact has been instrumental in creating an interactive and engaging STEM curriculum that captures the imagination of young minds.
Through workshops, after-school programs as well as excursions, Stone Three Impact introduces children to the wonders of science, technology and engineering in a hands-on, fun, and accessible way. “It’s not just about memorising facts, but also about encouraging young learners to ask questions, experiment and discover the boundless opportunities STEM has to offer.
“What sets Stone Three Impact apart is its unwavering commitment to creating a safe haven for children to explore and learn. The organisation understands that not every child has access to the same resources and opportunities, and this inclusivity is at the heart of our mission. By providing a supportive and nurturing environment Stone Three Impact ensures kids of all backgrounds can participate, learn, and thrive in the world of STEM.”
Through partnerships with schools such as Dr GJ Joubert and business, Stone Three Impact has been able to reach out to underserved communities within Strand and Stellenbosch, and provide access to STEM education that might otherwise be out of reach.
As a result, children from various socio-economic backgrounds are empowered to explore their interests, unlock their potential, and dream big in STEM-related fields.
“In a world where STEM knowledge is increasingly valuable, Stone Three Impact is sowing the seeds of curiosity and equipping our future leaders with the tools they need to innovate and make a lasting impact on the world,” concluded Folscher.
