Special Sunday treat for Strand pensioners

The annual “Muharram” lunch for the elderly and senior citizens of Strand was hosted by the Strand Muslim Council Female Section (SMCF) at the Ummah Hall in Gustrouw on Sunday 30 July. Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar and is one of the four sacred months of the year. As an elder and founding member of the Strand Muslim Council, the historian Ebrahim Rhoda was a guest. Also in attendance was Zuleikha Karaan, founding member and chairperson of the SMCF, and she was honoured during this function.
