A case of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition was opened at Strand Police Station on Saturday 6 May. This after a 34-year-old woman was arrested in Broadlands Park after officers discovered an illegal .38 revolver and five live .38 rounds of ammunition in her kitchen. According to Warrant Officer Nico Beukes, spokesperson for Strand police, the arrest in Petunia Street was made by officers from the police’s Anti-gang Unit. The suspect, also a member of a local gang, made a swift appearance in Strand Magistrates’ Court.
